Kia ora my name is Tiana Connolly I currently live in Pirongia with my young whanau. I have a two-year-old daughter, Rōisīn and a six-month old son, Tama as well as Irish husband, Aōdhan. We are a very multi-cultural whanau speaking three languages, Māori, Gaeilge (Irish Language) and English. Having grown up in Te Awamutu, I am looking forward to working in the local community and the bonus of being closer to where my Tamariki attend Kohanga.
My skill set includes 10 years’ experience catering for diverse learners with complex needs such as mild and profound learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, ADHD and Global Developmental Delays both in the UK and NZ educational settings.
I have taught in both mainstream and special needs schools. I am passionate about providing child-centred approaches to inclusive teaching and learning while supporting teachers, children and their whanau.
I am excited to be a part of the Learning Matters team, based in Te Awamutu and Hamilton and the opportunity to support a diverse range of learners in my new role. I love seeing learners reach success through growth in self- confidence, and knowledge, giving them the motivation to know that anything is possible.
In my spare time you can find me at the Gym being punished at Boot class, or in Coromandel kayaking and fishing.
