Hi I am Kirsty, MSL Specialist Educator and Resource Developer at Learning Matters, Te Awamutu.
Over the last four years, after a career change from Visual Merchandising/In Store Design, I have developed a huge passion for and expertise in special education.
I have successfully completed associate intensive training in the MSL approach to teaching phonology. This a multi sensory teaching method which is renowned internationally for teaching students with learning differences to succeed in reading, writing and spelling.
As Resource Developer, I am able to use transferable skills from my experience in design alongside knowledge around special learning differences, to create multi-sensory resources for parents, schools and in centre use.
Understanding that all learner profiles are different has allowed me to develop the ability to have an open approach to incorporating varied multi sensory learning techniques during my sessions. My goal is to enable all children to reach their full potential.
I establish meaningful relationships with the children and families I work with, and truly believe that the strategies my student’s develop during their education sessions en-root skills for learning and life.
