Kia ora, my name is Tracy Findlay and I am a MSL Specialist Educator at Learning Matters, Te Awamutu.
I have worked in the field of education for close to 17 years. I began my journey in an early childhood centre and after 5 years of working with children aged 0-5, I decided I’d like to learn more about teaching children of primary school age. On completion of my Bachelor of Education in 2002, I started as a Beginning Teacher in a new entrant class.
I have continued to work with a variety throughout my teaching career and have held various roles including Team Leader, Leader of Literacy and Deputy Principal. I have been involved in a number of exciting projects directly related to improving learning outcomes for children where I have been able to explore my passions within Boys’ Education, Writing and the correlation between student engagement and academic achievement. This has also included my training in the Multi-Sensory Learning approach which is renowned internationally for teaching students with learning differences to experience success in Reading, Writing and Spelling.
I feel very privileged to be able to continue to work alongside families in our community and provide specialist education in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy.
I look forward to working with you.
