Approach to reading and spelling of irregular spelled words in accordance with the syllable types of English, the spelling rules within them, and New Zealand pronunciation
This list contains high frequency irregular words taken from the Fry sight word list which was developed by Dr. Edward Fry. The Fry list is based on the most common words to appear in reading materials. These lists also contain irregular words from the New Zealand Statutory Education Research and Development Organisation Essential Word lists. Included in this list are also commonly misspelled end chunks, words that contain silent letters, and words that contain tricky medial sounds. Where possible, words are grouped in small lists within a common sound or letter pattern for ease of teaching.
This list contains over 550 words.
