Dylsexia-Friendly Quality Mark
Learning MATTERS has been awarded stewardship of New Zealand's Dyslexia-Friendly Quality Mark (DFQM), a national accreditation programme set to expand from early childhood education through to the workplace.

The time is right for New Zealand to adopt a more connected approach to supporting people with dyslexia throughout their lives
Learning MATTERS has been awarded ownership and stewardship of New Zealand's nationally recognised Dyslexia-Friendly Quality Mark (DFQM) following a competitive open tender process conducted by the Tertiary Education Commission.
The DFQM is a nationally recognised accreditation framework that supports organisations to strengthen teaching practice, foster inclusive environments, and improve outcomes for people with dyslexia. Since its establishment, it has helped organisations build their capability to better support learners with dyslexia and other literacy-related learning needs.
It is estimated that around one in seven New Zealanders experience characteristics associated with dyslexia. Research consistently shows that early identification, effective teaching and inclusive environments can significantly improve educational achievement, workforce participation and long-term wellbeing.
The appointment marks a significant milestone in the future of dyslexia-friendly practice in Aotearoa New Zealand. Learning MATTERS will build on the strong foundations of the DFQM while expanding its reach beyond tertiary education to create an end-to-end quality framework spanning early childhood education, schools, tertiary education, vocational training and workplaces.
